Bill 40: The Economic Consequences

When I wrote this editorial, the City & County of Honolulu had passed bill 40 which is one of the most restrictive bills in the country on banning single-use plastics. In my editorial I outlined the negative economic effect the bill would have on businesses and the overall economy. I take into account the cost it would have on businesses to convert to eco-friendly cutlery compared to plastics.

Is Our Student Government Based on Merit or Popularity?

I wrote this article during a time of student distrust in our student government. I chose to pursue this story because I wanted to voice the concerns of students as well as to call into question the legitimacy of having student election compared to choosing a qualified person to lead and represent the student body. I received a lot of criticism from this editorial, but I also received a lot of praise amongst the student body.

The Importance of Stop The Bleed

Prior to when I was given my health column, I created an editorial on why students and the general public should learn how to stop the bleed. It is due to the increase of gun violence and the ever-present threat of an accident, that we need to learn how to render lifesaving aid.
