As the Website and Technology Director, I am in charge of our online presence ranging from our website to our different media platforms. My administrator role allows me to have editor-in-chief powers because the stories we post on the website are separate from the hard copy issues. We do post the hard copy issues once we have finalized them, but our online stories are created specifically for the website. I started the aggressive plan to upload a story once every day for the past few months. I have missed a couple of days before, but that was due to school breaks or devoting time to getting the mobile app up and running. When it comes to online, I take charge of the class and offer guidance.
Online Assignments
My role in the class allows me to assign online stories when I feel it is necessary. My school had just approved the use of the remind system as an option for teachers to communicate with students and their parents without using personal phone numbers. As an administrator on staff, my advisor enabled me to have messaging privileges, so that I can message the class. Every time I need to assign stories, I use the remind system to tell students when the dates are and if we need specific categories filled.
Mobile App Launch
Ka Mōʻī held its mobile app launch on Feb. 4th. Because I had started the mobile app project, It was my duty to organize and lead the launch party. When I got final approval for the project, I put together a timeline and found the earliest date that I could do the party. I filled out the paperwork for a work request, tables, 600 brownies, posters, and I also assigned shift to members. On the morning of, I arranged the booth and posters around to attract students to download our app. I was there for 3 hours making sure it was running smoothly. After the event was finished, we had over 400 downloads. I wrote out the after event report that was then sent to the department head and my advisor.
